Hypnosis has been sensationalized for years by the media. From books, to movies, to TV shows, it has been portrayed as mind control, or a tool used mainly for entertainment. Celebrities have been known to use hypnosis for smoking cessation, weight loss, and exercise motivation, among other issues. Tabloids are constantly publishing stories about how hypnosis cured so-and-so’s outrageous phobia or bad habit – touting it as a miracle cure. But what about us regular, everyday folks? Where does hypnosis fit into our lives? How could hypnosis possibly live up to the hype and obscurity that surrounds it?
1. Hypnosis helps real people every day
Hypnosis may seem untouchable, or mysterious to some, but it isn’t just for stage shows, wealthy celebrities and people experiencing outlandish or uncommon problems. Here at The Morpheus Clinic for Hypnosis, we work with everyday people, from all walks of life, who are experiencing everyday issues. We work alongside them with the goal of improving their day to day lives. We use hypnosis as a tool for personal growth, for motivation, and for empowerment. Our approach is straightforward and results based. We strive to take the mysticism out of hypnosis.
2. Hypnosis can help almost anyone
What many people don’t realize is that the vast majority of the population can be induced into a hypnotic state. There’s really only a small handful of people, maybe 15%, that are not affected by hypnotic suggestion. This means that most of us can benefit from hypnosis in one way or another. Determining whether or not you are able to be hypnotized is a simple task, too! Finding out if you’re a good candidate for hypnosis is as easy as coming into our office for a free 30 minute consultation to sit down with one of our hypnotherapists. During that consultation, your hypnotherapist will guide you through a simple exercise. The results of which will determine whether you’re suggestible to hypnosis, as well as how suggestible you are, since some of us are effected more by suggestion than others.
It is also possible to learn to become more suggestible. We don’t give up on clients who are on the bottom of the suggestibility scale, especially if they’d really like to be hypnotized. We generally send these clients home with a hypnosis recording, called a hypnotic booster, that can teach you to be more suggestible and go deeper into hypnosis
3. Hypnosis has more uses than you’d think
You’ve probably heard of hypnosis for smoking cessation and weight loss, but there are so many uses for it beyond those two. Pretty much any issue that deals with emotions (good or bad), mental (something that is based in the mind and has to do with our subconscious beliefs), or caused/exacerbated by anxiety or stress can be improved drastically through hypnosis. If you are dealing with an issue that is specific, attainable, and falls under one or more of these categories, it’s highly likely that we can help!
4. The results speak for themselves
After just two sessions of hypnotherapy, you should be experiencing a noticeable change. Our happy clients have reported that hypnosis has not just helped them with the issue they came in to work on, but that it’s helped them become more positive and relaxed in general, given them peace of mind, and changed their outlook on life, too.
